Water sculpture

Artist Rainer Gross from New York calls his work “Deutz Twins.” On the side facing Ottoplatz it is a ten-metre-tall, narrow stele of finely polished concrete. The side facing the KölnTriangle features one of the artist’s classic motifs, namely “twin” images. The horizontal half serves as the floor of the water basin, while the standing vertical twin appears behind a wall of running water. Thus the two twins are connected by a “varnish” of water.

Ottoplatz connects the KölnTriangle with the Deutzer Bahnhof train station and the exhibition centre. More than 100 metres tall, KölnTriangle is the most prominent and visible landmark on the square. Recent renovations with new, large paving stones, waving flags, areas of leafy green and open-air restaurant seating (Mongo’s Restaurant) make the square a lovely and lively place. Particularly convenient is the private driveway available to KölnTriangle tenants, customers and visitors.
