In the work of Eberhard Foest, the human being and communication are two themes of central importance. What makes his works unmistakable is the typical figure he developed in the 1990s, which appears again and again in both his sculpture and his painting. It is an abstract, anthropomorphic silhouette of a slightly stooped human being. All of his works can be seen as a kind of dialectical treatment of the fundamental questions of human ethics and rationality.
